UK welcomes first rail-fly partnerships
Singapore Airlines passengers flying out of south-west UK will soon be able to get from their front door to their destination using just one ticket, after the company announced a partnership with rail companies First Great Western and Heathrow Express.
This service will be the first of its kind in the UK, and will serve customers in 11 south-west locations including Cardiff, Bristol Temple Meads, Bristol Parkway, Swansea, Oxford, Exeter, Plymouth, Bath, St Austell and Par.
Using a single ticket instead of the previously required three, passengers will be able to take a First Great Western train to London Paddington, change to the Heathrow Express and then board their flight.
The ‘through ticketing’ offer will be available on a range of flights to Singapore and other prominent Asian and Oceanic destinations.
Singapore Airlines said they hoped the move would help make long haul travel easier for its customers, and hailed the policy as an industry first.
